Pregnancy: Don’t Be Over-Concerned With What You Read Online

February 23rd, 2010 by admin

The web can be a great place to share both your pregnancy worries and excitement with other pregnant women on messageboards and forums, such as where to buy maternity dresses, or what names to call your baby.

However beware of a new phenomenon called “cyberchondria”.  This is where people become too obsessed with health issues - normally from reading horror stories online about pregnancies that have had complications or health issues to look out for.  With so much information at our fingertips, sometimes it’s hard to know what to filter, and how to gain a true perspective.

So become informed via the internet, but don’t overly worry about what you read online.
