My mother works for one of the worlds largest Internet companies and has been there for seven years.  She tells me stories all of the time about people calling up and claiming Identity Theft on their credit cards.  She handles all of the fraud accounts and said it is unbelievable some of the stories these people make up.  She had one man tell her that he lost his card two months ago but he had never cancelled his credit card.  They just do not want to pay for the services they used so they come up with these claims that someone else used their account information.
