More and more manufacturers of home improvement products are offering Do It Yourself kits.  Last week, my husband purchased one of the diy home security systems.  I admit I was a bit skeptical about his ability to install it, but the instructions were very clear and he did have some help from his best friend of 20 years who happens to be an electrician.  So far, it is working very well and we feel much better about leaving our teenagers in the house alone when we go out.  We’ve wanted to have an alarm installed for years, but could never afford it.  Doing it himself saved us quite a bit of money.
